It is that time of the year again when the rifle range gets busy. Please read all rules prior to shooting.  Be courteous and observant while on the range.  Most of all, be safe.

 

2020 Key dates

 

Starting in April through October every 2nd Tuesday of the month will be the 200 yard rim-fire match. Start time is 6:30pm.

 

Also a reminder to fisherman do not park in front of rifle range. Park over by the wood.

 

A mandatory sign in/sign out policy is in place.

 

Also, the range will be closed April 9th from 0800 to 1100 hours, May 11th from 0800 to 1100 hours, June 12th from 0800 to1100 hours for police training.

A few reminders:

  • Shotguns must be patterned on the patterning range by trap number 3.

  • Fisherman please do not park in front of the rifle range, park over by the wood piles.

  • All shooters must sign in prior to shooting and out when done shooting. 

  • Remember to check out the new rules below, it is your responsibility to know the rules.

  • As a reminder to all members, the minimum age for unsupervised shooters is 18 years of age. This applies to rifles, shotguns, handguns and archery. Anyone under the age of 18 participating in any of these actions must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

SHGFFA Rifle Range Rules

 

Outdoor Range Hours: Monday - Saturday - 7:00 AM - Dusk

                                                      Sunday   - 9:00 AM - Dusk

       The only exceptions is league shoots which must end by 10:00 pm

 

1). Always wear a blaze orange hat or vest, eye and ear protection.

2). All members must sign in prior to shooting.

3). All firearms must be cased or actions open when being transported on the range.

4). Targets must be mounted on the horizontal boards provided with the bulls- eye between the upper and lower        boards.

5). Paper targets only. No exploding targets of any kind!!!

6). All firearms are to be unloaded and actions open prior to going down range. Muzzle loaders will have the powder removed from the flash pan or primers removed from the nipple or breech plug.

7). When the firing line is called all clear strobe lights are to be turned on prior to going down range. When the range          is clear and the firing line is going hot the strobe lights are to be turned off prior to shooting.

8). NEVER HANDLE OR TOUCH A FIREARM WHILE PEOPLE ARE DOWN RANGE PERIOD!!!!!!!!

9). No armor piercing or penetrating ammo. No tracer ammo. No 50 BMG or 416 Barrett ammo.

10). No full auto or bump firing.

11). All shots are to be shot into target impact areas.

12). All shooters must shoot into the target areas in front of them. NO SHOOTING ACROSS THE RANGE!!!

13). No patterning or shooting of shotgun shells on range. Rifled slugs and sabots are permitted.

14). No children under 16 on the range unless SUPERVISED by an adult at all times!!!

15). No guests are allowed to shoot on the range at anytime.

16). 200 yard range pit is for authorized personnel only.

 

ANY VIOLATIONS OF THE ABOVE RULES WILL RESULT IN THE LOSS OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP!!!!!!
